Mrs Sucharita Reddy has penned ‘Nostalgia Cuisine’ a compendium of authentic Andhra recipes. Mrs. Reddy has always loved children and has dedicated this book to her daughters and the proceeds from the book will go towards ‘SAVE A CHILDS HEART FOUNDATION’ (SACH) – which has been providing succor to children suffering from life endangering congenital heart disease. The book is due for release next week at Chennai.
Sucharita Reddy comes from a traditional entranced Zamindar family from Andhra Pradesh. Even though she was married at 18, lived all her life outside Andhra Pradesh – the US and Chennai, she has not lost touch with her roots. Mrs. Reddy has made an extreme effort to preserve and pass down the culture, history and significance of her traditional upbringing through a unique medium – food.
Through Nostalgia Cuisine she seeks to encapsulate childhood memories through fine food inter laced not just with the spices of her region but equally delectable jewellery, clothes and customs. Mrs. Reddy does not believe in refrigerated or instant food. She makes it a point to cook according to the season and capture the essence of the atmosphere. “The food must be valued and cherished and must always leave an impact on ones mind and stomach.”
The contents of this book have been researched for over five years and some of the anecdotes of history and customs have never been chronicled before. This is no ordinary cook book. It is a fantastic fusion with all the ingredients of a perfect recipe. |
