The Department of Biochemistry has installed “MINICAP – Fully Automated Electrophoresis System based on Capillary Technique” from ‘SEBIA’, this is the first installation of its kind in our state.
Reporting Serum and Urine Protein Electrophoresis, Hemoglobin Electrophoresis and also Immunotyping will be reported with this system.
Some of the key advantages of this MINICAP system over the conventional agarose gel technique are:
1. Most Sophisticated Technology of Liquid Flow Electrophoresis.
2. Fast and highly efficient separation of the molecules with excellent resolution.
3. Migration and Quantification is very fast.
4. Customizable printing allowing compressed printouts of results and curves.
5.Throughput: Protein – 22 samples/ Hour; Hemoglobin – 10 samples/ Hour; Immunotyping – 2 samples/hour.*
6. Capillary technology allows quantifying all major Hemoglobin variants in a single run, it allows complete separation of Hb E fraction
from Hb A2 and also allows separation and quantification of Hb H and Bart’s.
7. Also there is no interference from the Glycated fractions in the quantification of major fractions.
