Received training in the basic principles of research methodology, ethical approval and data collection at Hammersmith Hospital, a renowned centre of research excellence where I was exposed to the workings and results of clinical research on a regular basis. I was involved in the management of babies, who were recruited for TOBY (Total Body Hypothermia) trial, which examined the role of whole-body cooling in infants with evidence of hypoxia-ischaemia and electrographic abnormalities within the first 6 hours following birth.
