Hyderabad, February 29, 2008:  Apollo Group of Hospitals, the largest private healthcare provider group in Asia and British American Investment Co. (Mtius) Ltd, a renowned business conglomerate in Mauritius through its subsidiary company have established a Joint Venture Company (British American Hospitals Enterprise Ltd, “BAHEL”) to set up and manage a state-of-the-art tertiary care hospital in Mauritius.

Republic of Mauritius with a population of over 1.25 million is a major tourist destination with over a million tourists visiting the Islands every year. Apart from serving the tertiary healthcare needs of the local population this joint venture hospital will cater to the growing needs of medical travel.

It will be a one-stop facility for advanced healthcare with infrastructure and personnel across 50 specialties and super-specialties. The services will be benchmarked with the best global institutions, ensuring delivery of highest standards of medical care to every patient walking into the hospital. This hospital will contribute to the up gradation of medical services across the region and will also be a major training hub for medical and para-medical personnel.

This world-class facility is being set up at a cost of US$ 50 million with debt equity ratio of 1. 25 : 1. Apollo Hospitals is investing 26% in the equity in the joint venture. Apart from investing into the joint venture Apollo Hospitals will  provide the Technical Consultancy Services during the Project implementation stage. Once the project is completed Apollo Hospitals will be responsible for the operations of the facility.

The construction is in progress and the project is expected to be operational
in Dec, 2008.
