AHERF has established a self financed Nursing School in 1993. This school is run on international standards. It is situated in the campus of Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills Hyderabad. Apollo School of Nursing situated at Jubilee Hills has a specially designed building. The infrastructure is based on a world class standard. This curriculum is prescribed by Indian Nursing Council & all their guidelines are followed. Apollo School of Nursing has talented teaching staff who maintain high academic standards. 

The teaching methods & other audio-visual aids help the academic staff to provide the best of education to the students. Since the School is situated in the campus of a super specialty hospital which has a number of highly talented staff, the students are exposed to world class hospital facilities for their clinical education.

The goal of Apollo School of Nursing is to set high standards in academic, clinical studies and create a cadre of world class nurses. The foundation conducts a master's level degree programme - Master of Hospital Administration (MHM). 

The degree is awarded by Osmania University. The programme duration is four semesters of class work and one semester of internship. 

The foundation conducts a course Diploma in Medical & Laboratory Technology (DMLT).

The duration is two years. Both the programmes are open to any graduate. 

General Nursing & Midwifery course 

Objectives

To develop an aptitude, to provide the necessary knowledge & skill to give world class comprehensive nursing care to patients in all types of illness. 
To develop skill in recognizing & interpreting intelligently the physical, mental & emotional manifestation of illness & develop ability to plan personalized nursing care. 
To educate / train the students practice & teach the principles of healthy living. 
To educate / train the students, work in co-operation with medical & paramedical personnel, to participate in various programmes for prevention of disease, to promote good health in the community. 
Train the students to develop skills in extracurricular activities. 
To create an academic atmosphere at Apollo Hospital & to improve the quality of nursing. 
To develop an individual who will be conscious of her duties & responsibilities to her profession & the country. 

Eligibility

The General Nursing & Midwifery course is open to candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary examination in science group or its equivalent. Candidate should be single, possessing good health, character, having proficiency in English. Candidate should reside in the hostel provided for them. 
Age : 17 - 25 years. 

All the eligible candidates will be selected depending on the following: 

Selection

Stage 1 - Students will be selected as per merit in Intermediate or 10 + 2 examination & called for an interview. 
Stage 2 - Entrance test. 
Stage 3 - Personal interview by the selection committee. 
Stage 4 - Medical examination. 

Course Details

Issue of Application : 1st Of April To 15th Of July. 
Interview : 3rd Week Of July. 
Classes Commence From : 4th Week Of July. 

The course in General Nursing will be of 3 years duration. The maximum hours per week per student shall be 36 hours which includes instructions & clinical field experience. 

Facilities

Scholarships - The best student in every class will be awarded, Dr.Prathap C Reddy Tuition Fee Waiver Scholarship for the entire year. Other scholarships are available for deserving candidates. 

Medical facilities - Every student will be enrolled into the Apollo Insurance Scheme.

Identity cards - Every student will be provided with identity card by the School. The students are expected to wear the identity card during duty hours.

Internship - 24 months at any Apollo Group of Hospitals.

Books - Students will have to purchase books prescribed by the institution at the beginning of each term.

Uniform - During first three months of training students are required to wear mufti dress. After three months of training uniforms will be stitched & supplied by the School as per standards of the institution & the student has to bear the cost.

Vacation - Students are eligible for one month (30 days) Annual Leave. This is arranged according to convenience of the Hospital & the School.

Sick leave - Students are allowed to avail ten days sick leave per annum on medical ground if needed, which has to be certified by a registered medical practitioner.

Withdrawal & dismissal - If any student decides to withdraw voluntarily from the School after the preliminary period or any time before completing the course, the deposits will be forfeited. The School reserves the right to send away any candidate whose work or conduct is not found satisfactory during the period of the training.

Admission To Yearly Examination

A candidate will be eligible for admission to the examination only if : 

The head of the school certifies that she has completed not less than 11 months of the course & that her performance has been satisfactory. 
She has attended 70% of the formal instructions. 
Her record of practical experience is upto date. Practical Examinations will be conducted in clinical areas.

The School is located in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, situated in the campus of Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad. 
The campus covers 30 acres of scenic land with natural beauty overlooking Golconda Fort. The School & Hospital are far from the pollution of the city.


Library : The school has a library with a wide range of relevant books of latest edition. Every year books & journals are added to the library. The library contains text books, periodicals, newspapers for general reference & for their work which equips the students to collect a vast amount of information. 

Laboratory : Students are given opportunity to practice & master skills in various aspects of nursing in a well equipped laboratory. The practicals are conducted both in the laboratory & in Apollo Hospital.

Home Away From Home : Students are accommodated in a safe & homely hostel within the campus. A well planned nutritive & regular meals are provided in the mess.
