Eligibility to apply for the course:
1. Must have completed MBBS and one year compulsory
rotatory internship
2. Must be registered with the Medical Council of India
Duration of Course:
3 Years
Examinations:
Part – A:
This exam will consist of a knowledge test in multiple
choice formats with 50 questions with four stems. It will
not be negatively marked and will examine basic sciences as
applied to Accident & Emergency Medicine.
The question paper will be prepared and sent by the College
of Emergency Medicine, UK and the examination shall be
conducted at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad by the Faculty from
The college of Emergency Medicine – UK and the Course
director at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad.
The Part ‘A’ exam will be held by the
College of Emergency Medicine –UK, at Apollo Hospitals -
Hyderabad. In order to receive the application forms for
Part A exam, a DD of Rs.100 has to be sent in favor of ‘AHERF’.
The filled in application form along with the necessary
documents and the examination fee in favor of “AHERF”,
payable at Hyderabad has to reach us before Nov 1st ’06.
Part-B:
The trainees will be eligible for this examination on
completion of 3 years of the program and should have
completed Part-A of the examination. The examination will
consist of two sections –

Data
interpretation / short answer paper – This paper
examines data
interpretation skills and consists of 15 questions based
on radiographs, ECG’s, blood test results and clinical
pictures etc

Objective
Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) – this is a 18
station section assessing knowledge, professional
behavior and clinical decision making skills.
Candidates
must pass both sections of Part-B independently.
Curriculum:
Curriculum for both parts will be the same as the standard
curriculum described by the College of Emergency Medicine,
UK.
Certification: On completion of both parts, the
candidate is certified with MCEM (Member of College of
Emergency Medicine) by the College of Emergency Medicine,UK.
Admission: Those offered admission would need to
complete the admission formalities and pay fee immediately.
Once the admission process is completed and fee paid, there
shall be no refund of fee for any reason what so ever.
General
rules and regulations:

This is a
full time program and trainees cannot join any other
training/educational program or seek employment
elsewhere during the program

Candidates
offered employment by Apollo Hospitals will be employed
and posted as per the requirement of the program in any
of the emergency rooms / ICU’s / Operation theatres /
Other areas within the group hospitals in the twin
cities. There shall be no choice of refusal for
employment / posting at a particular center.

Those
employed will be paid a salary as per the hospital rules
and regulations
All trainees (whether employed or not) will be working
on a mandatory rotating shift basis

Hostel
facilities will be provided to the Women trainees on
payment. For men plenty of accommodation is available
around the hospital

Dress code
– Light colored plain shirt with dark colored trouser,
black shoe and apron

While
clinical postings will be at any of the Apollo centers
in the city, theory classes will be in the main hospital
-
Local
transport, food and other incidental expenditure will be
borne by the trainee
-
In case of
disciplinary action the candidates admission will stand
cancelled and there shall be no refund of any fee paid
