The Department of Bio – Chemistry and Therapetic Drug Monitiring is equipped with three state – of – the – art auto analysers with a fully automated random access facility for routine testing and extends round-the-clock services. 

Hormones, Tumour Markers, Vitamin Testing are done on fully automated Random Access Immuno Assay analyzers including the sensitive Chemiluminescence Technology. 

Therapeutic Drug monitoring is done on automated analyzer using the sensitive Fluorescence polarization technique. Apart from the internal quality control the department with external quality control programmes and proficiency testing programme from BIORAD, International proficiency testing programme for Cyclosporin Assay with St. Georges Medical School, London, etc. 

• Thyroid Testing.

• Reproductive Hormone Testing.

• Other Hormones like cortisol, growth hormone, insulin, parathyroid hormone (PTH-INTACT) + calcium.

• Anemia Testing.
  Special Lipid and Cardiac Markers - like Lp(a), Homocystime, TNT, CKMB (mass).

• Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.

• Electrophoresis : Protein and Haemoglobin.

• Manual Tests like Iron and total Iron binding capacity, Transferrin, Adenosine deaminase (ADA) in body fluids, copper, ceruloplasmin, urinary VMA & urinary Metanephrines etc.

The Department is totally computerised using HIS. The Auto-analyser being interfaced with the software ensures transmission of the results directly to the lab computers, validated results can be accessed by the consultants on their monitors and also in the wards and through UHID on the net by the patients.
