Emergency Services need specially trained personnel working in the pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency settings. None of the Indian Universities have formal training programs in emergency medicine and there were practically no doctors or para-medical staff dedicated to emergency services in the country.
Member of College of Emergency Medicine, UK: Apollo Hospitals offers a three year program for doctors in collaboration with College of Emergency Medicine, UK. This program is unique as the degree offered at the end of successful completion of the training program has the same value as the degree offered to a doctor undergoing the program in the United Kingdom.
Diploma in Emergency Medicine: This is a one year program in collaboration with the Royal College of General Practitioners, UK. The theory part of this program is delivered online through Medvarsity and the 3 month contact program happens in one of the Apollo Hospitals in India.
American Heart Association Programs: Apollo Hospitals is the first International Training Center for American Heart Association in India. Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support are the training programs offered in collaboration with American Heart Association.
These programs have been running for the last three years and we now have a bunch of dedicated doctors and paramedics to man emergency rooms and Hospital on Wheels.
