    Access during Emergency

    1066 Help Line Number

National emergency number 1066 is a four digit number, easy to remember and easier to dial. This number will be commissioned across the country in a phased manner and is presently functional at Hyderabad, Chennai, New Delhi, Kolkotta, Pune, Ahmedabad and Bangalore.A communication system between the emergency response center, ambulances and emergency rooms has been established. This is a foolproof system and will work optimally in the Indian environment. A wireless system (with permission from Govt of India) was installed and this helps in uninterrupted communication between the emergency response center, ambulances and emergency rooms. In addition to the wireless system, mobile phones are provided as a backup for communication within the system.

    Hospital on Wheels

Following Research and Development the core team at Apollo Hospitals has designed an ambulance that suits the Indian conditions and is affordable. These ambulances are fully equipped and are capable of beginning emergency care at the site of incident and through the journey to a hospital. These ambulances are named

    "Hospital on Wheels"

to distinguish them from traditional transport ambulances.
The ambulances are located at strategic locations in the city providing easy access to people living in different parts of the city. Ideally a driver and an emergency medical technician / paramedic accompany an ambulance.

The investment, interest and depreciation of the vehicles and equipment are borne by the hospital to which the ambulance is providing services as it is the hospital that gains from patients shifted by the ambulances. The ambulances are provided free of cost for emergency patient transfer to the hospital within a specified distance.

    Air Ambulance Services

are used in cases where the transport by ground ambulance could endanger the life of a patient or in remote areas where there is no ground accessibility. The services can be provided by Helicopters and Fixed wing aircrafts. Aircrafts are much cheaper when compared to helicopters but the patient must be located at a site where an airstrip is available.

These services are offered across the country and details of contact persons can be obtained from Department of Emergency Medicine, Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad. While aviation companies will provide the aircraft and take care of aviation logistics, National Network of Emergency Services will take care of the medical aspects like providing trained personnel, equipment and medical care during the flight.

    First Aid Motor Bikes

in an emergency sometimes it is difficult to reach the victim due to traffic constraints. First Aid Motor Bikes have been introduced so that we do not loose precious time in an emergency. The bikes manned by trained paramedics rush to the spot and start the resuscitation process and than once the Hospital on Wheels arrive the victims are shifted to the nearest hospital
